Anna V. “Nuddie” Smith, 99, of 107 Howard St, Westernport, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV.
Born July 31, 1912 in Piedmont, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Anna May (Spiker) Poland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Smith, a grandson, Timmy Smith, a sister, Jesse Wilson, six brothers, “Bus”, Frank, Tom, Bill, Jim, and Jerry Poland, and a son-in-law, Dick Hutton.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, where she was an active member of the former Aurora-Derham Bible Class. “Nuddie” was a member of the Eastern Star, an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and she was a friend to all and loved by all who knew her.
She leaves behind a son, Tom Smith and wife Betty of Westernport, two daughters, Kay Hutton of Westernport, and Nancy Trezise Boggs of Cresaptown, seven grandchildren, Steve Smith and wife Doreen, Julie Laffey, Bob Hutton and wife Lisa, Kevin Trezise and wife Rene’, Linda Smith and husband Bill, Karen Hope, Beth Weber and husband Chuck. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, and two sisters-in-laws, Ginny Poland of Luke and Eileen Poland of Westernport.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Bart Thompson officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
