Patrick Francis Harvey, 66, of Westernport passed away on May 22, 2018. Patrick was born at home in Piedmont, WV on Sunday evening, March, 16, 1952 at 4 minutes to midnight to Dorothy L. Harvey and John C. Harvey Sr. He was delivered by Dr. James H. Wolverton and his Grandmother, Sarah Trixitis Keyes, LPN. At age 3, he was struck by polio and thanks to Dr. Jonas Salk, he recovered completely to become a leading gymnast and diver. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School through eighth grade. He graduated with honors from Bruce High School, where his father taught, in 1970. He was recommended to the US Naval Academy on two separate occasions by US Senator J. Glenn Beall and US Representative Goodloe Byron. He was not able to attend due to suffering from polio. He was enrolled in the University of Maryland in the fall of 1970 where, for three years, he was an academic tutor to All-American basketball player and Rhodes Scholar, Tom McMillen. He became fast friends with Coach Lefty Driesell and the entire Maryland Basketball team of that era. HE left prior to finishing his degree to become a political aide to State Senator, Edward T. Conroy, (D-Bowie-Greenbelt) Chairman of the Constitution and Public Law Committee until the Senators death in May of 1983. He worked at Moran Management Real Estate Development Firm in Washington DC until he returned to the University of Maryland where he majored in accounting and graduated with honors (4.0) in May of 1986. Patrick was recruited by Arthur Andersen and Co. and worked with them from 1986 through 1996. He was offered a partnership but he did not want to move from the Washington area. Patrick became a Certified Public Accountant in 1992 and an enrolled IRS representative in 1993. He worked for Global Business Systems in Washington DC from 1997 to 2003. Patrick returned to the family home in 2003 to care for his Mother until her death. He maintained the family home until his death. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, John Conrad Harvey Sr. (4/1/1995); his mother, Dorothy Lee Harvey (9/14/2016); and his younger brother, Richard Michael Harvey (12/20/2018). He is survived by his older brother, John Conrad “Jay” Harvey of Cumberland, and his younger brother, Robert James Harvey and his family of Minneapolis, MN. Patrick is also survived by his two aunts, Charlotte (Keyes) Grab and Betty Keyes of Frostburg; as well as first cousins, Bill Ashenfelter and Athens, TN; Janie (Ashenfelter) Custer and her family of Westernport; Frances (Keyes) Wilson and her family of Piedmont; Gene Keyes Jr. of Mission, TX; Katrina (Keyes) Szilaj and her family of Westernport; Gene Marie (Jackson) Tillery and her family of Ft. Ashby, WV, Gretchen (Jackson) Landis and her family of Mt. Savage; Becky (Jackson) Smith and her family of Meyersdale, PA; Frances (Harvey) Mclaughlin of Sebastian, FL; William Harvey and his family of Virginia Beach, VA and Robert Harvey and his family of Katy, TX. Patrick is also survived by his nephew, Richard Michael Harvey and his family of Oakland; his nieces, Sadie Rose Harvey and Sarah Ann Harvey and their family of Cumberland. Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Divine Mercy Parish St. Peters Church, Westernport. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Westernport
