Mary Lou Smith, 89, of Stoney Run Road, Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at her residence.
Born May 24, 1928 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Clyde V. and Gladys L. (Miller) Marsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Franklin Smith, a sister, Thelma “Beanie” Fallinger, two brothers, Ray and Clyde Marsh, an infant brother, Ervin, an infant grandson, Scotty Smith and a son-in-law, Carl Combs.
Mary Lou was a very proud, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. In addition she was a loving sister and friend to many people. She was also a former employee of Foodland Supermarket, Westernport, MD.
She leaves behind two sons, Gary Smith and wife Karen of Taylors, SC; Daniel Smith and wife Janette of Oakland; a daughter, Mona Jean Combs of Broadway, VA; a brother, Thomas Marsh and wife Jackie of Westernport; and a sister, Evelyn McCarty of Westernport. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Robert and Sandra Smith, Minneapolis, MN; Steven Smith and fiancée Brenda Vollmer of Richmond, VA; Stephanie Wawers and husband Darren of Detroit Lake, Minnesota; Daniel Smith and wife Meghan of Broad Brook, CT; Joshua Smith of North Pole, AK; Jeremy Combs and wife Nichole, Eagle River, AK; Christopher Combs and wife Tessa of Mount Airy, MD; and David Combs and wife Michelle of Sykesville, MD; two step-grandchildren, Edward Tracey, Oakland, MD and David Tracey of Meyersdale, PA; fifteen great-grandchildren, including Tyler Smith, Hope Smith, Logan Smith, Meghan Smith, Julia Smith, Mikayla Smith, Skye O’Brien, Gabriela Combs, Anderson Combs, Ava Combs, Bradley Combs, Landon Combs, Carlee Combs, and Grace Combs; and one great-great grandchild, Caroline Smith.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, August 11th from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at Stoney Run Baptist Church, Westernport, on Saturday, August 12th at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Friends and family will be received at the church on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport. Memorial contributions may be directed to Stoney Run Baptist Church, or Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, Westernport, MD.
